Active Path Mental Health

“K is such an important medicine for me and the service workers there are friendly, but this place is a disgrace to mental healthcare and should be dramatically reformed or shut down. Active Path is another corporate startup type healthcare service that does not give an absolute heck about its customers (yes not patients or clients). Any attempt I have made to humanize my experience or receive actual care has left me beyond disappointed. It seems as though they need to be reminded that folks that need and are able to access this medicine are extremely vulnerable, often desperate. One of the qualifiers to this care is treatment refractory depression. Often we’ve tried so many things that haven’t worked and have thought about ending our lives because of it. We are tender and need actual care. Some (not all) of the clinicians are so inexperienced they struggle to put on a blood pressure cuff and clearly have no familiarity or training around the sensitive questions they have to ask about mental health. The meetings with the “doctor,” are akin to a 5 minute pep talk with a high school guidance counselor at best, complete with micro aggressions and cultural insensitivities. They made me sign an agreement in order to continue care that removed my right TO USE THE BATHROOM during the 2 hours required to be shut into their soul less & uncomfortable rooms. This is not only absurd but wildly ableist. Not to mention K makes many folks need to pee. One provider said it just makes you ‘feel like,’ you have to, apparently deciding how my body functions. This is all because they don’t want to staff enough people to assist folks to safely take this medicine. These small and awful rooms are often shared with another customer using the medicine separated by a GD shower curtain. The other customer is literally less than 3 feet away from you also having their very personal experience. It is here that they will also verbally ask the incredibly personal required questions about suicide ideation etc that you are meant to answer next to a stranger. Again the service workers there have been sweet to me and are constantly attempting to pick up the pieces of the company’s abhorrent structure. I’m so sad I have to look elsewhere to receive this essential medicine for my well being.”
