“Camas I was 37 years old and struggling heavily with alcohol addiction. For years, I had refused treatment or any kind of help. When I arrived at Camas, I didn’t know what to expect. From the moment I checked in, I was greeted warmly by one of the techs, who immediately eased a lot of my anxiety. I was shown to a detox room that was comfortable and welcoming, and the cooks, nurses, and techs made the detox process as easy and comfortable as possible. During my 30-day stay, there were numerous group sessions led by knowledgeable counselors, as well as opportunities for one-on-one counseling. My counselor always made time for me, which helped me build trust and become more open with both her and myself. The program offered yoga, meditation groups, breathing exercises, and even equestrian therapy. We also had opportunities to attend professional hockey and basketball games and experience indoor skydiving. The facility itself was beautiful. The rooms were spacious, and even with a roommate, there was more than enough personal space. What started as one of the scariest times of my life became one of the most positive and transformative experiences I’ve ever had, thanks to the staff at Camas. I learned so much about alcoholism and addiction—things I had never understood before. The counselors were compassionate, approachable, and easy to talk to. They encouraged me to share my struggles without fear of judgment. They were honest, supportive, and took the time to ensure we understood and processed the information being taught. I highly recommend Discover Recovery at Camas to anyone seeking professional, compassionate, and dedicated help.
