What patients say on Google
“I only ended up at LifeStance because my amazing therapist made the change to work under this company. From the start I have had nothing but issues with LifeStance. Let’s talk about the trash portal system that didn’t work for me the first several weeks of being a patient, I even told the office manager this and no one reached out to help fix it. Did you know you have to call in to actually get a password reset because their portal doesn’t work the way it should? I made the decision to seek out a Psych NP. I was paired with Edith A. The appointment last exactly 12 minutes because I left in a panic attack she escalated. I was told she didn’t review my chart whatsoever before my appointment. I spent a full hour with my good therapist putting in notes for the NP. She said, “I just don’t know how to help you,” when I got quiet and tried to regulate. The office is aware of this, they even listened to the recording of my panicked complaint against this repugnant provider. Then she went ahead and claimed a lot more time with my insurance, they were very interested to hear this. What a terrible experience to have when you were genuinely asking for help and being respectful. Their billing department is a headache every time I have to deal with them. They fail to communicate - no really, if you can’t call during business hours and pin someone down, they will ignore you. I understand why there have been so many legal problems with this company. There are some truly good providers here… but don’t trust this company whatsoever. They don’t have real onboarding for their employees and it’s incredibly obvious. If you’re chronically ill I wouldn’t suggest having therapy here at all - the company automatically charges 125$ if you don’t cancel a full 48 hours in advance. No, 30 some hours notice isn’t enough. Then your provider has to try to submit a waiver on your behalf to contest it. But again, billing moves so slow you’ll probably end up in collections before it processes. This is solely my experience. I hope this helps someone trying to make important mental health decisions in the future. LifeStance may make your mental health worse, it certainly made mine worse. LifeStance, you only get the extra star because my provider was a damn good one, I hate she chose to work for you.”
“Lifestance has a lot of issues administratively. Their website is not user-friendly, patient portal is cumbersome and it's difficult to get much done there. Patient Portal doesn't have access to a lot of information that other patient portals like mychart offer, for instance. So it all comes to down making phone calls, which have varying levels of effectiveness. Other administrative issues that have been problematic are having my labs faxed to the lab of my choice rather than the one they use. It took 3 phone calls, and finally they had to email the lab order to me so that I could fax it to my lab. It's clear that the doctors are contracted, which is ok, but it's not easy to discern if a doctor is a good match until you've already wasted several sessions (and insurance payments) before you realize that the doctor you're using isn't working for you. Early on, I had a psychiatric emergency on a Friday afternoon. I needed clarification on a new medication I had been prescribed. I couldn't reach my new psychiatrist through the patient portal. There was no direct email or phone number to her. And when I called the main office, I found that they close early on Fridays. I was in crisis and couldn't find any source of help. When my crisis was resolved, it occurred to me that there wasn't even a mental health crisis phone number on their website home page! They are a mental health care provider that isn't available in the evenings or on weekends, have no emergency or on-call options, but can't even have crisis information on their website! I found that to be very irresponsible. Generally speaking, the office staff that I have spoken to were friendly, but some were more knowledgeable than others. It's kind of hit or miss. I have since switched my therapist and psychiatrist and am now happy with my care, otherwise I would look for a different company.”
“I got a call about my appointment with a very unclear/unclarified voicemail that led me to believe that IF i wanted to reschedule because someone else had canceled and that i could come in sooner, not that my appointment was canceled and that i will not be able to get the help i need at the time scheduled and that i need to reschedule or have to wait otherwise. I have been trying to brave my way into making an appointment for therapy and for me to be rejected by some terrible at their job front desk person, hurts. I wasted my time money and more of my mental health status on what felt and looked like a fake therapy scam”
“I’d had something on my mind that was giving me major anxiety and I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. Since my doctor’s appointment this morning I haven’t thought of it until now, but it’s okay, I’m good with it. Today is a good day.”
