“I was seeking NeuroStim treatments. I have had a lot of traumatic events in my life, now that I am older a lot of these memories are haunting me on a daily basis and causing me to be to become very depressed. Neurostim is a TMS treatment for stubborn depression that does not yield to antidepressant meds. I found out that I had to have a counselor, and I had to try medication first to please the United Healthcare Medicare insurance. I had many types of antidepressants at a younger age which actually increased my depression. I was approved by two psychiatrists in the Neurostim program end a counselor I was seeing on a weekly basis. The counseling was really not helping me but I needed to participate to meet the requirements of the insurance. The counselor also recommended Neurostim. I started the treatments and had two treatments as you go everyday for a month and the treatment last 3 minutes. The second session I felt quite a relief of my depression the next day. However a woman psychiatrist named Jan Stravonsky, MD, and questioned that I had depression at all because I treat my depression by going out everyday and distracting myself at a movie or walking around in Goodwill and talking to people and she did not comprehend this whatsoever. This was my method of dealing with the constant intrusive thoughts that were causing the depression and keeping me from doing anything meaningful that took concentration for any length of time. Dr Stravonsky had no comprehension of that and stated that I was not depressed and she was ending the treatment program for Neurostim. I was extremely shocked and didn't even know who this woman was and where did she come from and I never talked to her before! I was advised by Dr. Stravonski that I should make another appointment with the original psychiatrist who approved the treatment plan and I should ask him for depression medication! I advised Dr. Stravonski and I was not interested in any kind of depression medication and so I guess it was time for me to leave! I then tried to make an appointment with the counselor I had been seeing and he informed me that he would see me in a month for half an hour and I replied that was not acceptable and I tried to get another counselor because I was supposed to see one every week for this program At this point I had no choice but to leave. Dr Stravonski had taken it upon herself shut my insurance off for the Neurostim program. The original psychiatrist who approved the treatments was Dr. Stravonski's boss but he continued to support her turning off my insurance and that I should resubmit everything and start over at the beginning for a month and then I might qualify for Neurostim treatments!? Needless to say this was very depressing to me increasing my anxiety and depression being treated unfairly when everything was started and going well. So now I am supposed to be forced to take an SRI Zoloft serotonin reupdate inhibitor, which I looked up to see if I had a conflict with my dependency on thyroid hormone replacement as I have no thyroid, and I found out it would affect the potency of the thyroid medication I was taking. The conclusion is I was completely dumped out of any type of treatment at all for 30 days and no future there either. In my patient notes I found the reference by my medical doctor that I suffered from recurrent depression! Apparently and this was ignored by Dr Stravonsky. Apparently she never read my patient notes before making a serious decision about ending my treatment and ending my insurance coverage for the Neurostem treatment. I have placed a complaint with Kitsap Mental Health at the beginning of July to restore my treatments ASAP! Now it is the end of July and I have heard nothing from Kitsap Mental Health the results of their "investigation". I feel that I was forced to follow instructions that were never given to me prior to the time they stopped the treatments and stopped the counseling and stopped everything and literally threw me out of their clinic. I have heard nothing from them”
“I received mental health counseling through KMH and I loved my counselor. They were flexible with my schedule, offering reoccurring schedules and zoom option. The staff are pleasant and helpful. They are very accommodating and offer a relaxing environment and trauma informed care.”
“I rarely leave reviews, but I feel like I need to share my experience in case it helps someone else. I reached out to start therapy because I genuinely needed help. First, I had to wait three weeks just to attend orientation due to my work schedule. After that, I waited another three weeks for my first therapy appointment. The day of that appointment, I received a call saying my therapist was sick. I completely understand that things happen — that wasn’t the issue. The issue was being told the next available appointment was another three weeks out. Because I was struggling, I agreed to come in and speak with someone from the scheduling support team. That appointment was not with my assigned therapist, but with someone I had never met and will not continue seeing. As someone new to therapy, that experience left me feeling worse and more overwhelmed. I was then scheduled again — three weeks out — to finally meet my assigned therapist for the first time. Three weeks later, I received another call that she was sick. I was offered a next-day appointment, but then received another call that she was sick again. At this point, I have waited multiple three-week periods, completed orientation, attended an appointment with someone I won’t see again, and still have never actually met my assigned therapist. When someone reaches out for mental health support, consistency and reliability matter. The repeated cancellations and long delays have honestly made my mental health worse during a time I was actively trying to get help. I know nobody really cares and everyone just is getting a paycheck there but I hope this is taken as constructive feedback. The intake and scheduling process needs serious improvement, especially for new clients who are already in a vulnerable place.”
“Extremely helpful and kind, especially in times of crisis or when you're just having a bad day, this place is very kind and understanding and help you with any problem or point you in the right direction if they're unable to help solve your problem. Even if you just need to vent to someone they will help you with any and most, if not all, needs! Just wish there were more places like this nationwide!”
