“Dr. Keays should not be allowed to practice medicine. I came to her at the end of 2022 to be treated for what was presumed at the time to be fibromyalgia. I had debilitating gut and pelvic pain and no one had an explanations for me. I had a pre-existing fibromyalgia diagnosis before seeking care from her. She purported that my pain was consistent with fibromyalgia. I indeed have back, joint, and generalized body pain, but the abdominal pain was VERY different. But I was desperate and no one else had any answers for what was happening to me. She said that TMS is efficacious in treating fibromyalgia. In fact, there's no substantive evidence that it does. I was extremely depressed and anxious due to disabling pain and an abusive work environment. The TMS treatments began in January 2023. They were HORRIBLY PAINFUL, which is extraordinarily abnormal, but treatment was continued. I needed pain medications to tolerate the TMS sessions. The shoulder and back pain started to decrease as I entered the TMS taper. The treatments were still very painful for me but I was eventually able to tolerate them without the use of pain medication. My pelvic pain decreased *slightly* while on medical leave since I wasn't sitting in an office chair for 40+ hours a week. The extreme abdominal and pelvic pain went right back to the level it was at before my leave as soon as I returned to work, and so too did the severity of my depression. She went out of business without any warning 2 months after I completed TMS. I showed up to a medical visit with Dr. Keays to discuss psychiatric medication adjustments, and she informed me during that visit that it would be the last time I would visit with her. She gave me 90 days of med refills and sent me back to my PCP. She also falsified my medical records that she kept of our visits. Within a few weeks of discontinuing TMS, I started dealing with escalating left side shoulder and arm pain (the side of the brain that TMS is done on). My symptoms were minimally responsive to physical therapy. The longer the pain continued, the worse my functioning was. By mid 2024 I could no longer lift my left arm beyond 90°. If I needed to lift my left arm higher than that, I literally had to move it with my right hand. Whatever position I placed my left arm in, I would be stuck there until I manually moved it with my right hand. Also in 2024, I got a hysterectomy...which revealed and I had undiagnosed adenomyosis and stage 3 endometriosis. THAT'S what was causing my debilitating abdominal and pelvic pain. My pelvic pain is nearly gone, save for the vaginal nerve damage caused by prolonged missed diagnosis. While I've received occupational therapy and sports medicine treatments in the last 12-18 months that have substantially increased the functioning and decreased the pain in my left arm, I still have not returned to being able to function as I did before getting TMS. For her current patients, proceed with caution!”
