How likely are you to recommend Center for Anxiety and Depression?
“Honestly, Dr. Cara Erkut is the best doctor I’ve ever been to. She listens with genuine care, respects my concerns, and always takes time to suggest different medical solutions that truly fit my situation. Her team is professional, punctual, and makes scheduling effortless, I always get timely reminders. I’ve been to many doctors before, but none matched her level of compassion, attention, and professionalism. I’ve already seen great progress in my condition in a relatively short time, and I’m deeply grateful for her support.”
“Dr Erkut abruptly terminated care for our daughter after 5 months of care with no warning. This is particularly alarming because she acknowledged that our daughter was a severe case, but then she abandoned her without a feasible plan for care in the future. She made one referral to a provider who was not accepting patients and offered no other solution. Dr Erkut terminated the care relationship with no warning and no options for refilling her prescriptions after Dr Erkut increased her doses. It may not have met the legal definition of abandonment, but it felt like it. Dr Erkut's lack of concern for her patient was the most frustrating part. The first thing I look for when I select a physician is someone who is a patient advocate, and Dr Erkut's lack of advocacy is why she gets the 1 star rating.”
“I was a patient of Dr. Erkut for a period of 4 months. In that time, I believed that we had developed a strong relationship and that she was committed to helping me work through my mental health concerns. Dr. Erkut was 10 minutes late for what would be our final appointment (this was the third time she was late to an appointment.) At the time, I was experiencing a severe setback in my mental health recovery because of an emergency surgery. Dr Erkut suggested that I was not making progress and I contested that I had been experiencing symptom improvements prior to the medical emergency. She abruptly severed our relationship by saying that we should “part ways now, cancel all future appointments, and that I should leave at this time so she could think about how to proceed.” There were still 15 minutes left in my appointment. The next communication that I received from Dr. Erkut was a curt and impersonal email that stated that I was not showing symptoms improvement after 4 months of treatment and the expected treatment course was 6 months. Dr. Erkut never outlined this expected time frame to me and on numerous occasions provided reference examples of patients who took years to recover. I felt confused and abandoned by the way our relationship was terminated and the lack of support provided in the aftermath. This termination exacerbated my already severe anxiety and in some ways left me worse off than before treatment because I no longer have trust in Psychiatric professionals. I believe Dr. Erkut has good intentions but she needs to clearly communicate expectations, treatment timelines, and boundaries to potential patients. I never would have selected her as my provider if I knew that she was following such a rigid protocol for treatment. Perhaps she would be a better fit for someone with less dynamic medical conditions and mild/moderate anxiety.”
“Dr Erkut's assistant took my information and helped me get an appointment within a week. Dr Erkut met with me, actively listened (asking relevant questions) and helped me sort out a short-term medical plan. I felt heard and I sensed empathy, important to me when discussing these kinds of situations.”
